Activation of Business Functions

Hi,

Our ERP system will be updated from EhP8 SP Level 14 to SP Level 21 and there is a desire to activate some SAP Business Functions available up to SP Level 21.

With your experience, will you activate the Business Functions along with the upgrade project or will you wait until SP Level upgrade project and testing is over and start activating Business Functions later?

Just a practical question to understand how activation of Business Functions can be carried out during an Upgrade Project.

Yes, I am thinking about activating some existing BF's in system which are available form before not activated and some new BF's coming after the SP Level upgrade from SP Level 14 to 21 (Sep) for ERP EhP8.

Thanks for your advice, and agree that my test efforts will be reduced. But Basis team has concerns that the errors arising during SAP upgrade may be confused with BF activation. So they are asking whether both could be separated. But I think it is more to decide internally and take up activation together with SP Level upgrade.

Basis teams are always 'concerned' 😉
Of course you should perform the SP upgrade and check any issues coming up in that phase / SPAU first:
After that IMHO it makes sense to activate the BFs you are planning to use and then only bother your test users with testing efforts.
