Can someone direct me to information on building out a chemical process in SAP from initial raw materials with specific CAS#'s and chemical propertied into finished goods with different CAS#'s and chemical properties? An example would be the capture of ammonia gas by sulfuric acid to generate ammonia sulfate and water.
Hello Newton,
For this, content is embedded or needs to be loaded for list substances (CAS level) and UN listed substances (UN number level). Specifications representing the raw material and compositions are maintained for starting materials (raw material) on the finished product, products after reaction and analytical composition. Based on process, compositions can be created via transfer to primary output from the recipe to the product specification. Identifier are maintained on the specifications, e.g., that represent the product name. Additional data for phys/ chem, tox and other primary data, that cannot be automatically determined, needs to be assigned. As next step intelligent expert rules are run to determine secondary data such as GHS and Dangerous Goods classifications that is then reviewed. This process may include the Conditions for Safety Statements CoSSta. Products, e.g., the finished goods are assigned to this specification representing the different packaging sizes. Generated data can be used for downstream processes such as SDS authoring and distribution, substance volume tracking, Hazmat transportation and label management amongst other things. There are variations in process based on solution and requirements.
