Good day to all,

Our company requires alphanumeric material codes. Is it a good practice to use alphanumeric as extenal code and numeric as internal code?

Hi johnlijo ,

Just a suggestion for you to elaborate a bit more on your case. This is the sort of topic for which the business context is key. There´s probably not an explicit generic good/bad guideline.

All the best,

One material type (for a product or material number or material code ) can have only one number range either internal numbering or external numbering but not both at a time. Your numbering may be alphanumeric or numeric .For more refer Material numbering logic and set up in MMNR

Hi,

Is it not possible to use Retail functions to maintain an internal code which will never be changed, is recommended to be internal and not have special characters, and an external product ID that can include special characters , can be modified , and so on?
