Journal Entry API - Extensibility Custom Fields

Hi Experts,

I am having some difficulty in extending the Journal Entry - Post (Asynchronous) API. Under the account assignment substructure item, I need to add public sector fields, which weren't included fields in the original API. I referred to the following blog to create custom fields with the Accounting: Coding Block business context as recommended for account assignment fields. https://blogs.sap.com/2020/01/22/in-app-extensibility-in-s-4-hana-cloud-part-1-adding-a-custom-field... I also referred to the API business documentation to understand the extensibility capabilities.

When enabled, it appears that the custom field will not link in any way to the already established public sector field in my reports. Is there a way to extend the API fields to include the public sector master data fields without creating the duplicated custom field in S/4HANA Cloud?

Hello Owen, fyi we have taken Alexadra's request directly to SAP S/4 Product Management to add public sector fields to Journal Entry API. The requirement has been accepted into planning. I hope this provides the detail desired.

Are you trying to use the custom fields to populate standard fields in S/4HC? If so, I dont think this will work. I'm not familiar with "public sector master data fields" --which master data object are these fields a part of in S/4?

They are master data account assignments such as Grant, Fund, Sponsored Class, Cost Center Category and Controlling Area. They aren't included in the API target schema, but are fields that exist in our S/4 system.
