Using conversion rule to convert custom field

Dear experts,

I am using Template Migration Object "Product" with Staging tables approach to upload some Z-fields.

The Z-fields were automatically added to source structure S_MARA and to target structure R_IT_EXT_PRODUCT.

I have added a conversion rule in the field mapping to map the target structure with the source field.

All works OK when simulating the data.

However when migrating the data, the system automatically replaces the conversion rule to the standard MOVE rule.

I read in SAP help documentation that this is the standard system behavior:

"The SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit adds such custom fields automatically to the assigned migration template structure. It then maps these fields to the API structure using a MOVE rule. There's no value mapping available for such fields within the migration cockpit."

Did somebody experience the same behavior and found a workaround?

By reading the blogs it seems that it should be possible to have value mapping available for custom fields so probably I am doing something wrong?
