S4 Hana and APO-combine - yields far too many planned orders

Hi all ,

I am a shop floor engineer - working on S4 HANA and APO- we convert planned order to production order and send it to shop floor - for some APO materials -off late- i see lots of planned order generated and i dont have control over it-

In MD04 i see far too many planned orders which is creating excessive stress on upstream process like making too many  purchase requisition, and in house Superfluous production orders

How do i have control over my planned orders generated ? is it in SPRO settings of S4 HANA and Advanced planning  or MRP settings of S4HANA and Product master setting of APO  

Where precisely should i check which parameters OR which Fields ??

System behavior when it comes to creation of planned orders is erratic ..

Point to be noted MRP is run in the background. 

Expert can you please provide some ideas on this ?
