SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud : AVC_ variant condition key in sales and characteristic values assignment

Hello Experts, 

We are not able to assign the variant condition key in sales pricing to the material characteristics values in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud.  we are using Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC). 

Please advise on how to assign material characteristic values to the variant condition key in sales pricing.  We had attempted to create variant condition key in VC modelling environment and the same is used for pricing in condition record  creation using PVA0 condition type. However there is no linkage between selected material variants in the sales order and the applicable price increase due to this variant selection.  

I am missing the link between the material characteristic value and variant condition key in sales pricing.

Its not mentioned if you have a reference characteristic with SDCOM-VKOND assigned to the configurable material involved.
