This blog targets customers currently running GTS 11.0 (or 10.0 and 10.1) and wondering how they can prepare for the move to SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA.

Step 1 - The Readiness Check

The readiness check checks whether your system meets the prerequisites for conversion to SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA.

It needs to be executed in your current SAP Global Trade Services environment, before the migration and again shortly before you start the technical migration. The readiness check reports will be the starting point if you want to understand the effort required for your transition to SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA. It may also help you in deciding your transition strategy, for instance choosing between greenfield vs. brownfield implementation.

For more information, please see https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/3033398.

Step 2 - The Simplification List

To enable our customers to better plan and estimate their path to SAP S/4HANA, we have created the Simplification List for SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA. In this list, we describe in detail, on a functional level, what happens to individual transactions and solution capabilities. We have in some cases merged certain functionality with other elements or reflected it within a new solution or architecture.

Step 5 - Contract Conversion of existing SAP Global Trade Services licenses

SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA is, from a legal and commercial perspective, not the successor of SAP Global Trade Services. When is or is not recommended to have a brown or greenfield approach? This is one of the most asked question from SAP customers.
