Employee Central vs Succession

Hi dear experts,

is here anyone using Employee Central for a limited population and Succession for another part of population?

The issue we are experiencing:

we have 2 types of population in our instance.
- 1 is non-EC population which uses Position as MDF with incumbent to be assigned for succession (current position in people profile and incumbent in succession position tile).
- 2 is EC-population for which Employee Central is enabled (2 Business Units) using full functionality of EC.

Issue: once EC is enabled we have an issue with "incumbent" field on the position. Though assigning the incumbent for non-EC Population to the position, the incumbent doesn't show up in the succession position tile, neither it does in employee profile (showing no position in Incumbent People Profile).

The field "incumbent" on position is set to editable in the system as it's needed for assigning the employee to non-EC position for Succession usage.

Thanks a lot and appreciate your feedback on that.

Kind regards,

Yuliya Havrylova

Dear yuliya.havrylova,

When you enable EC and use the Position Management, the way you used position for Succession changes completely. Before EC, you had users, after EC you must have employees. The main difference is that with users you do not really assign them to the positions, but just point who is the incumbent of each position. With EC, the users must be converted into employees and really assigned to the positions (you must create employee data for those users - Personal, Employment, Job Information). If you do not convert the users into employees, they will not show up in the Succession Org Chart.

For you to understand fully, take one of your non EC users and create employee data for her/him (thought the Import files). Once you complete this, you will be able to see this person in the position and work with her/him in the succession.

One last important note, about the incumbent field. How you need to set the Incumbent field depends on whether you also use Succession Planning.

So, if you are now using Position Management because of EC, the incumbent field should not be visible anymore and this is because what I said above, that you must really assign the people to their positions.

I hope this helps!

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Karen Perez

Hi Karen,

thanks a lot for your reply. It means there is no chance to have a non-EC population together with EC, right?

The problem is that we have EC only for a limited user records, the rest should stay without EC. We can enable the position OrgChart for the non-EC population to use it and display an incumbent on that. If we offer Position Org Chart to our non-EC Population, is there a chance to have the incumbent added in the Chart, which will not be visible for the EC User?

Appreciate your input cery much:-)

Thanks and kind regards,

Yuliya
