We are excited to announce the release of Feature Package 01 for SAP S/4HANA Transportation Management 2023. This release demonstrates our continued commitment to empowering businesses to improve their supply chain execution and run their transportation operations efficiently.

Key features in this release include:

  1. Integration innovations:
    1. Sales order scheduling – a much anticipated innovation that allows a customer service representative to use data from Transportation Management when determining the delivery date for the sales order. For more details see this blog.
    2. MM Scheduling Agreement – this innovation allows a more selective pull of schedule lines into TM resulting in performance improvements since only relevant schedule lines are integrated. For more details see this blog.
    3. Incoterms support - for certain incoterms (e.g., EXW and FCA) changes were made to ensures ASNs are sent when the transfer of risk occurs.
    4. Advanced handling when warehouse loading stops are not completed. This process helps planners manage the exception process including the unassignment of cargo that was not loaded and the re-assignment of the cargo for later pickup.
    5. Event based customer invoice - it is now possible to automatically trigger the customer invoice when a defined event has posted reducing manual efforts.
    6. The left behind at the port process simplifies the process of re-assigning containers to another booking when they are not loaded on the ship as planned, simplifying the exception process for transportation planners.
  2. Planning & optimization:
    1. Routing can now be configured to include or exclude routes with tolls and routing quality is improved with the addition of a report to identify any triangle inequalities.
    2. Drive time and working constraints such as rests are considered by planning and scheduling and are visible in the Gantt chart. As a result, more accurate and executable trips that follow relevant driver safety regulations can be created.
    3. When creating a package unit, the packaging material can be selected at the same time, simplifying the process and improving usability for transportation planners.
  3. Collaboration innovations:
    1. The procurement process was improved so carriers can submit multiple bids in a single auction while also seeing the current lowest rates.  On the shipper side, for those managing RFQ’s it is now easier to create and monitor RFQs: multiple carriers can now be mass-inserted in a single step and RFQ’s are automatically updated upon receipt of confirmations.
    2. Carriers can now submit deviating time window information (revised ETA’s) via the collaboration apps which will update the freight order details which are then available to other parts of the organization (e.g., customer service).
  4. Other innovations:
    1. Improvements to the freight order interface enable sending and receiving freight orders with attachments, allowing shippers and carriers to share documents relevant to a specific freight order.
    2. In the settlement area, there is now the ability to configure the settlement process that allows changes to freight orders after the accruals process and invoices are posted.  This simplifies how changes are shared between TM and financial accounting.
