Overview:



In today's fast-paced business environment, staying informed and aware of critical system activities is essential. However, manually monitoring multiple email notifications can be time-consuming and inefficient. This is where the power of SuccessFactors Story Report comes into play.


Story Report, a powerful tool within People Analytics, transforms system email notifications into insightful data visualizations and interactive dashboards. This empowers users to gain valuable insights into key system activities, drill down into specific events, and identify potential issues or trends quickly and easily.


The Story type of report in Report Center is part of the People Analytics solution, and it's based on the integration of SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite with SAP Analytics Cloud. It is a presentation-style report that uses charts, visualizations, text, images, and pictograms to describe data.



Target Audience:


Story Report is valuable for various user groups within an organization, including:




  • HR teams: Use story reports to track the delivery and engagement of onboarding emails, training notifications, and performance review reminders.

  • IT teams: Monitor the delivery of system alerts and notifications to ensure that users are receiving critical information about system outages or maintenance.


Modules supported:


All emails sent from BizX can be tracked and will be available in the Email Monitor report.

RMK and LMS data are currently not supported in story reports email notifications.

System Prerequisites:



  • Ensure Identity Authentication Service (IAS) and Identity Provider Service (IPS) are configured for the SAP SuccessFactors tenant.

  • Sync users from SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite to SAP Identity Authentication Service.


Role based permissions - Prerequisites.



  • View permission to the following three objects in User Permissions Miscellaneous Permissions:





    1. Email Notification: contains the data of generating email notifications in SAP SuccessFactors.

    2. Email Notification Recipient Details: contains the delivery information of each email notification on the recipient side.

    3. Email Notification Processing Details: contains the processing data of email notifications within SAP internal servers.

    • User Permissions >> Reports Permission Create Story Email Notifications permission.

Step to Create System Email Notifications Report:



  • Go to the Report Center.
    Click New to create a Story type of report. Choose Classic Design Experience & then select sapsfsfrep as connection information.



Query Designer for tracking Email Notification


A query model is a representation of large amounts of business data using common business terminology. The Query Designer enables to select the fields that can be used to create reports using Story. The queries build using the Query Designer are stored within the stories. They are referred to as Data Sources in the Story.



    • Browse the module data sets in the Available Data section, and expand the data set "Email Notifications".

    • To select a table for the query, double-click it or drag-and-drop the tables on the query canvas.






  • On the query canvas, select the table available in the schema to build the query.

  • Add required columns and filters based on the modules/templates required to build the query, using the options on the action menu.

  • choose Finish, when the query is completed.

  • Enter a query name along with an appropriate description & Choose OK to save the query.


Step to create a simple filter:



  1. On the Query Designer canvas, find the table for applying the simple filter and click it.

  2. Click the (filter) icon and select Simple Filter.

  3. From the list of columns available, select a column for the simple filter.


    The Select Members dialog appears, and the Available Members section shows all the values of the selected column appears.

  4. From the Available Members section, select the values that are required to be included in the filter definition. (Select Performance Management Module)

  5. Check the Selected Members list to ensure that the choices are correct.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Apply the other required filters by following the above steps.(Optional)


Add an object to story canvas:



  • Once the query design is completed, select the object type "Table" for the story as shown in the below screenshot.

  • Choose the dimensions & styling for the story. Styling
