As we reach the mid-point in 2023, customers who are still on SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.2 release versions should be planning and finalizing the move to the latest BI 4.3 release.

As stated in the SAP Analytics Business Intelligence Statement of Direction, version 4.2 will reach end of priority one support at the end of 2024.
With BI 4.3 Support Package 3 available since December 2022, already several thousands of customers are live on version 4.3.

The release of SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.3 was far more than just a technical upgrade.
It came with some major new enhancements from both the Administrator and User perspectives.
These could be broken down into the categories of:

  1. Hybrid: Provide a tighter integration between BusinessObjects BI and SAP Analytics Cloud

  2. User Experience: Harmonize user experience and foster adoption with Fiori like experience

  3. Enterprise Readiness: Enhance ease of deployment and support latest industry standards

So aside from planning the technical upgrade to 4.3, system owners and project manager would also need to consider the end user adoption of the new user interfaces and review possible hybrid scenarios with SAP Analytics Cloud.

To aid customers making the final push, we have a two part series of webcasts to help you see all the major advances that have been introduced since BI 4.3 from the base release through to Service Pack 3. These are complimented with details on upgrade paths and deployment support.

Hi Ajay,

If the link isn't working for you then it is most likely that while you do have access to the SAP Learning Hub, you don't have access to the SAP Enterprise Support Edition of the Learning Hub.

There are several "Editions" which essentially allow you to see extra catalogs of materials.

First step, register for the SAP Learning Hub, edition for SAP Enterprise Support.
https://support.sap.com/en/offerings-programs/enterprise-support/enterprise-support-academy/learn.ht...

  1. Register with your s-user ID and password.

  2. Approve login from e-mail that will be sent to you (could take up to 2 hours to receive an e-mail)
This will be sent to the email address associated with the S-User.

  3. Upon first access to the SAP Learning Hub, edition for SAP Enterprise Support, the system will check the eligibility, create an SAP Learning Hub user, and update the catalog

Please try again to register once completed. Let me know if any issue persists.

My organization has SAP BO 4.2 reporting on BODS 4.2 . They plan to do away with both BO and BODS by Dec 2025. Hence, they do not want to upgrade to 4.3 even though we know that P1 support ends in Dec 2024. I would like to understand what are the risks of having an unsupported platform considering that we have daily reporting dependent on successful data loads. Are there any specific areas that we may see issues if we continue to run on BO and BODS 4.2.
Hi Shilpa, The risk is to have an issue requiring a fix from Dev team... While you can still enter cases on unsupported releases (I guess), DEV will never provide a fix on unsupported releases.... In our world where security issue happen sometimes you would be forced to upgrade to solve a security issue, rather than planning an upgrade when you want so that you are still in a supported release.
