I would like to thank iinside for inviting me to join his Max's Adventure in SAP Cloud Platform live stream this week.

We had fun exploring what happens when CAP (Cloud Application Programming model) meets HAT (Hybrid Analytical-Transaction, aka translytical processing) in the trial account.

If you liked that episode...

...then here is the good news: there was more to show and to talk about, so we've scheduled another episode to be streamed live at the same Maxi's channel on Wednesday, May 6th at 16:00 CET (click to set the reminder and to join)!

If you disliked that episode...

...then here is even better news: I learned from our previous experience and promise next time it will be improved: more structured, properly paced, and better explained 🙂

If you missed that episode...

...then you can rewatch it, or just join the next one where I will quickly recap what we've done so far.

Stay tuned!

Hi Vitali,

Thank you for the blog post. The Dbeaver part that you had shown over there with the visualization of the spatial data got me interested. Could I ask if it is not possible to integrate the HANA container with Microsoft Power BI ? I see that Power BI also has similar data visualization capability w.r.t spatial data. Am I missing something or going totally off track w.r.t the usage of DBeaver ?

Appreciate your comment.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Hi Babu. Thank you for viewing the stream and coming with the question.

DBeaver’s visualizations of geospatial data is cool for developers, while we are working on the solution. In the past, eg. with most of my https://blogs.sap.com/tag/geospatial-tuesday/ blog post I had to copy the result from the HANA’s SQL output and paste it into the external service, like http://geojson.io t visualize the result. With DBeaver integration I do not need to doo it anymore.

If you are talking about BI tools and geospatial analytics done by end-users, then this is the capability available out-of-the-box in SAP BI tools too:

Thank you - Vitaliy. Fully understood the relevance of Lumira and Analytics cloud. But, I am just wondering if the HDI Containers could somehow be also integrated with Microsoft Power BI since everyone has access to Office 365 days, it may be a great visualization tool for quick insights from ERP without having to use Lumira / Analytics Cloud. Any feedback regarding this ?

Best Regards,

Oh, I am not Power BI product expert, so it might be worth asking specialists from MSFT how they support HANA ?

But e.g. in MS Excel (at least on Win10) there is out-of-the-box support for SAP HANA calc views to connect to.

Cheers,
