Can you further elaborate on this point  - "Leverage existing SAP BW Integrated Planning (BW-IP) models and benefit from HANA acceleration to new capabilities". Can IP functions be created from BPC ? How is the BPC intergrated with IP ?

There will be two approaches going forward - BPC Classic and BPC Unified. BPC Classic is the standard way of implementing BPC as we do in BPC10.0

The BPC Unified is the best of both worlds - BPC and BW-IP and you can leverage IP capabilities too. Here you can write planning functions in FOX as opposed to Script Logic in the Classic approach.

Search for more read and you will get most of your questions answered.

Hi Anurag within BPC we have the ability to choose an Embedded Model/Environment type.  It is built on the BW-IP paradign but has enhancements such as HANA optimzation, HTML5 client and others.

Hi Gajendra we are no longer referring to them as Classic/Unified.  The Unified model is now referred to as the Embedded model and what was Classic before is now the Standard BPC model.

Hi Pras

(Editing post for response I found for my queries)

Thanks for the correction! I have few questions and it would be great if you could throw some light:

  • Will the Embedded Model allow for key figure modeling now? - yes but only IP part of it
  • Will we be able to create the planning application - based on Master Data or Transaction Data - the option we have in IP? - The Embedded should allow as other standard features are there so this should also be present
  • Will the planning templates support variables? - Any template based on Embedded approach will support the variables
  • Is the mobile capability right out-of-the box? I know that with advent of HTML5UI, it should make the process easier. - Should be accessible even by URL plus OData+NWGateway is always there
  • Will consolidation be possible in Embedded approach? If yes, will there be standard features to execute the same - the way we have in Standard BPC. - Consolidation is not supported in the Embedded approach; you need to use Standard BPC for now. Future releases are planned to have it.

My biggest concern is how much effort would it need to move from an account modeling to KF modeling. Hope there are standard features out of the box to support the development of planning and consolidation applications.

Hi,

is there an Integration to SAP Business ByDesign? I think in a hybrid environment (with Headquarter running SAP ERP and subdiaries running Business ByDesign) that would make sense.

Hi All,

Is there any planning dates when BPC Unified will  be support Financial Consolidation functionality as well as BPC Classic now?

Is SAP planning something like..BOPC model generates HANA views directly rather than creating Info providers in BW, can we manipulate data in the views using sql script with easy functions etc. Will that happen anytime soon, this simplifies so many things I believe

Any comments on this ??

Kind Regards,

Krishna
