30 professors, PhD and MSc-students  from 17 different universities and 2 representives of SAP partners from Russia and Belarus took part in SAP University Alliances Summer School «Building University Innovation Network in CIS» which was held July 6 through July 8, 2016 in Minsk, Belarus.

The 2nd Summer School for faculty members of the CIS region by SAP University Alliances was highlighted by introduction of SAP Next-Gen Consulting and SAP Education Network on Digital Transformation offerings to the regional academic community, hands-on workshops on SAP platforms and
te
chnologies for creating innovations in digital economy, namely: HANA Cloud Platform and SAP Lumira.

The event was opened by SAP Belarus Partner Account Director Pavel Yankelevich who stressed the importance of collaboration with academia and academia-to-business innovations transfer for SAP ecosystem, his statememt was supported in Pavel Zhilko's, MD of SAP partner-company "AtlantConsult", opening speech where he specfically mentied the high quality of students' education of Belarus universities who had a chance to use SAP UA proposed formats in mastering SAP technologies during their university years. Later that day Dr. Igor Belousov, SAP University Alliances Country Manager for Russia/CIS, took the stand to present participants with the great offerings of SAP to academia to get them prepared for the era of digital transformation. In his presentation Igor covered such topics as launch of Next-Gen Consulting Hubs in world's and region's leading universities, Sillicon Valley Digital Incubator Trip and offering for high schools recently developed by SAP CIS titled "Digital Enterprise of the Future". The first day was concluded by a networking event: a guided tour to the medieval fortress of Nesvizh, where the festive reception took place.


The second day was devoted to the rolling out of Learning Hub Academic Edition. Dr. Yury Kupriyanov, SAP University Alliances Country Manager for Russia/CIS presented Summer School attendees with the plethora of available training materials available via on-line platform, and took them thriugh step-by-step procedure to register at the portal or migrate their existing accounts (which proved to be a challenge), download a curricula material or sign for the course of their choice.


Just before lunch the participants of the School were invited to join a round-table on Next-Gen Educational Formats for Digital Economy. Opened up by Dr. Victor Taratukhine, who greeted the participants via Telepresence from SAP HQ in Walldorf, and chaired by Dr. Yury Kupriyanov discussion was held on three main topics: new educational programs, new education formats and new education cources. All the questions spurred great interest anoumg faculty members some of them shared their expertience on setting up innovative programs, formats and cources : Oleg Vinichenko of RANEPA, Lidia Maslova of MGIMO University and Dmitry Kudryavtsev of SPb State University respectively. All in all the discussion was concluded by the crucial role that international academic exchange (like SUGAR and ERCIS network) and collaboration with businesses play in creating new and demanded education formats and content.


Later that day professors had a chance to taken on the lecture by Andrey Surinov, of SAP Consulting, who presented them with HANA Cloud platform as a new SAP platform combining the power of SAP HANA and flexibility of the Cloud for developing innovative apps, within this lecture, held via Skype, participants also completed several hands-on assigments to get full first experience with the HCP. Faculty members unanimously found the platform extrmemely handy along side with embeded services such as IoT, Fiori, and the others however in the feedback participants mentioned that they would like to have more detailed teaching materials to integrate them into the educational process.


The last, but addmittedly the most interesting and fullfilling day of the Shool was run by SAP CIS deputy MD, Yuriy Bondar, who lectured professors on SAP Lumira and offered them a changce to compete in building a business-analytical report on data he had prepared in advance. For over 4 full hours faculty members were working on their assignmemt to present it at the run-out of the workshop. Two teams of participants demonstrated impressive results. The first of 10 participating teams consisting of Vadim Chugunov, Belarus State University; Elena Vishnevskaya and Oksana Khrabrova, Russian State Oil&Gas University - competed the task in the most comprehensive way, creating all the reports with all the required analytical views; while the second of 10 participating teams consisting of Anton Ambrajey, Peter the Great St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University, Alexander Dorofeev, ITMO University, and Daria Fomina, Belarus State University - created non-trivial reports to provide data not just for the current need of an entreprise but also allowing to assess different strategic option for creating innovative business models based on current conditions.


The end of Summer School was marked by a fourchette which was also attended by business development director of IBA group and the director of SAP practice of IBA Group. The final words of Leonid Bokun, business development director of IBA group, were related to the topic of digital transformation, disruptive innovation and crucial role of academia-business network development in the economy of the future.


At the end of the School each participant received Attendee certificate, and the winners of Analytics Challenge were awarded special memorable presents by Yuriy Bondar.


The 2nd Summer School of SAP University Alliances for CIS faculty members other than perfectly performing its role as a training and information-sharing activity turned out to be an enabler for developing academia-business education network for digital transformation shedding lights not only on educational topics, but also on the ones of Next-Gen industry research and international academic collaboration.

Our special thanks go to Prof. Dr. Sergey Markov of Belarus State University (and his team: Oksana Kravetz, Svetlana Larionova, Oksana Degtyarevich), who's commitment and hard work along side with integration both in UA-community and local SAP ecosystem ensured the succes of SAP University Alliances Summer School in Minsk.
