how to continue expired Cal service

My Name is Akiyori Kato from Japan.

Please confirm below...

【Our Situation】

・We purchased the following CAL environment and deployed cal service.

Cloud Environment: SAP Cloud Appliance Library for Service(8005963)

Appliance: SAP S/4HANA Solution for Financial Services (S4X) v6.3

・After free trial period(1 month) have passed, we no longer use and login to the appliance.

Therefore we try to continue the appliance and wonder how to do it.

・We understand that we need two licenses to unlock the expired appliance:

The SAP Product Licenses & The SAP CAL Subscription.

As wrriten above, we already purchased CAL subscription(8005963), and need the product license that

covers SAP S/4HANA Solution for Financial Services (S4X) v6.3.

・Please see attchments for addition.

【Question】

We are now considering to purchase TDD On-Premise license for permanent use of SAP Cloud Appliance Library.

By generating permanent license key of TDD On-Premise and applying the generated key to the Cloud Appliance,

we assume that we become able to use our expired appliance again.

・No.1

Is it true that TDD On-Premise enables expired Cloud appliance(SAP S/4HANA Solution for Financial Services (S4X) v6.3) to be used after trial period?

・No.2 (If Question.1 is OK)

When generating license key of TDD On-Premise, you need to submit hardware key.

Is it possible and free of violation against the SAP security & business rules,

to submit hardware key generated at the SAP Cloud Appliance Library?

・No.3(If Question.1 is not OK)

I would appreciate it if you know any other possibilities(product license) to continue expired cloud appliance template.

Best Regards...

Hi Akiyori,

According to your question, you already have a CAL subscription and thus meet one of the prerequisites to keep using the appliance. The next is to get a product license which once applied would unlock the appliance. Since it appears that you are a partner, you can use the Partner Edge portal to obtain new licenses (only for partners and used for test, demo, and development - not production). This blog (though a bit old but still applicable) covers how an appliance can be extended. On-prem software license can be used in a CAL appliance and obviously you will need to provide the hardware key of the CAL appliance (should be OK). Your partner manager in SAP should be able to help you further with TDD licenses.

Cheers,

Naeem

Dear Mr Naeem,

Thank you much for answearing to my questions and sharing the blog. Yes, your understanding to our situation is correct.

>>On-prem software license can be used in a CAL appliance and obviously you will need to provide the hardware key of the CAL appliance (should be OK)

⇒We recongnize that No.1 is ok and No.2 may be ok.

>>Your partner manager in SAP should be able to help you further with TDD licenses.

⇒OK, We will talk to our partner manager about TDD on details.
