I was wondering if networking policies is active in Cloud Foundry SCP
https://docs.cloudfoundry.org/devguide/deploy-apps/cf-networking.html#iaas
Hi Alfonso Armenta,
Yes, sure!

I had tried that example, well, a very similar one, and I received what looks like a permissions issue, this is in a hana trial space for which I'm admin/developer. After trying the command:
cf add-network-policy front --destination-app back --port xxxx --protocol tcp
I get an error:
Adding network policy from app **** to app **** in org P********trial_trial / space dev as a******@domain.com...
provided scopes [cloud_controller.read password.write cloud_controller.write openid uaa.user] do not include allowed scopes [network.admin network.write]
FAILED
Although in my case I'm trying to connect a Spring Boot application to a docker image (the backend service), this other answer:
https://answers.sap.com/questions/12690095/create-network-policy-for-2-docker-containers-in-s.html
seems to hint that this kind of networking may not be possible in SAP Cloud at the moment. I may be missing something very obvious here though. Any help appreciated, for now I am running the backend outside SAP Cloud but this is just a proof of concept.
Sorry Alfonso Armenta,and Bert Deterd,
I think I posted an incomplete answer. I meant to say that SCP -CF doesn't allow Networking Policies to be created. I thought I had posted a link to the documentation as well that clearly states which features aren't implemented on SCP. Sorry again, but here is the documentation where you will find a table containing which features aren't available on SCP:
To the best of my knowledge, such features will be available for SAP Data Intelligence:
Best regards,
Ivan
Hi Bert,
According to CF site, "Container-to-Container networking policies determine app-to-app communication".
If app-to-app communication is what you are after, then yes SCP - CF will allow that - after all it is a micro-service platform.
Best regards,
Ivan
