Cloning SAP HANA Multi-host System by AWS AMI

We have BW on HANA multi node system (HANA 2.0 SPS 5) on AWS cloud. We need to build exact copy (parallel) in different AWS account in the same region with different SID and Hostname. We are thinking to take the AMI of source system and copy the AMI to target AWS account and launch the new instance with the AMI and post that we will perform HANA Hostname & SID rename using hdblcm.

Is this possible to launch or are there any challenges?

Hi Aditya,

From the Amazon user guide, the AMI is not a tool to clone SAP Hana system as you can read on the link : https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/AMIs.html

Please find in the link below "AWS Technical Documentation" the scenarios you can follow to create a clone of you existing system.

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/sap/latest/sap-hana/migrating-hana-hana-to-aws.html

Hope this helps you with your enquiry.

Regards
