Crystal Report upgrade from 2008 to 2020

Hi Experts,

We are upgrading the Crystal Reports 2008 to 2020. All the hardware specifications are as per the requirement of version 2020.

Anyone faced any challenges while upgrading CR 2008 to 2020?

Any other difficulties in editing or creating .rpt files in 2020 version?

Also some data source options are not supported in 2020 (like Access/Excel), so is there any other way to get the database data (XML or Excel) to the report?

Please post your inputs or suggestions.

Regards,

Shravani

The internal structure of the .rpt file has not changed between CR 2008 and CR 2020 other than to add new functionality and database drivers.

For Access/Excel connections, you'll need to get the latest version of the Access driver from MS.  The problem you'll run into is that if you have 32-bit MS Office installed, you won't be able to directly install the 64-bit version of the Access driver - there are some hoops you have to jump through.  See oobug's answer from 10/31/2019 here:  https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7116019/hand-install-of-64-bit-ms-access-odbc-drivers-when-32-bi....
