From R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 EHP 7/8

Hi,

due a series of complicated reasons I have to get a system that has been archived for years back on track. Now I have restored everything and brought the old landscape back to life and it is working well.

Now we would like to renew it and bring it up to current technology, or at least as much as possible.

Source system:

R/3 4.7 SP25, SAP_BASIS 6.20 SP55, Kernel 6.40EX2, Aix 6.1, Oracle 10.2.0.5

Required Target System

ECC 6.0 EHP 7 ( or 8 ) on Aix 7.1 with DB2/UDB 11.5

I checked PAM and imagined these steps:

- Upgrade Oracle from 10.2 to 11.2

- Upgrade Aix from 6.1 to 7.1

- SAPup R/3 4.7 --> ECC 6.0 EHP7

- Upgrade Aix from 7.1 to 7.2

- OS/DB Migration Oracle 11.2 --> DB2/UDB 11.5

- SAPup  ECC 6.0 EHP7   --> ECC 6.0 EHP8

What do you think? Other ideas?

PS: of course, I will ask to SAP to enable me to download old (and out of support) kits.

Hi Ganimede,

1. Since your SAP system version is very old, as you mentioned the steps you have to follow to achieve the latest version SAP ERP system.

2. Refer to the SAP note 1388258, in case any other SAP instances are connected to the existing R3 system to check the Version Interoperability between SAP Business Suite and SAP NetWeaver Systems.
