SAP Workflow Management: Cannot create process variant

Hi community,

while creating a process variant for a pre packaged worfklow scenario (business partner payment data changes approval) I receive following error:
An error occurred while processing your request. Retry later or contact the service provider.

I already checked the console and could find following information:

The variant id can start with namespace(only lower case letter(s) and dot(s))) and after namespace, id must start with letter and can continue with alphanumeric characters and underscores only. For example com.sap.cim.onboarding_process"

modelElement: null

modelElementName: null

parentElement: "variant"

severity: "error"

logId: "a0c7e31a-2f8c-4aa0-b834-52fba6adb4bc"

message: "Validation of the process variant failed."

I tried it several times with a different name and the error remains.
Error occurs also in my trial account.
Does someone has an idea what the issue could be?
