SAPUI5 add or change css and JS. Pros and Cons

Hi there, I was wondering if it is possible to add to or edit the css or JS in sapui5 for micro animations, add a skeleton or other page load behavior and to manipulate fonts, icons and such. Without losing sap support or creating issues of any kinds that are not maintainable long term.

Or does SAPUI5 prohibit any of that? What is best practice?
