Earlier this year, we announced exciting news for those who have more than one SAP Community profile, you can now merge them into a single account leveraging your SAP Universal ID. We’ve also been sharing in multiple ways that the SAP Community will be switching natively to SAP UID before the end of this year and encouraging everyone to create their account as soon as possible.

Starting September 5

the only way that you may log into the SAP Community is with your SAP UID.

SAP Universal ID is valuable for a number of reasons … it provides a single, life-long access point to SAP systems so that you only have to maintain one account, you need it to register for the SAP TechEd Virtual event or to attend SAP TechEd Bangalore in person … but in particular to the SAP Community, it will be the only way to login.

Our community depends upon amazing members, and we want to make sure

each and every one of you completes this important task.

If you have not done so, please create your SAP Universal ID before September 5!

Hi Dani,

if the SAP UID is mandatory now, what will the improvment beside using UID?
Is there a better login process or is some legacy system turned off?

Hi Dani,

I have a doubt regarding the S-user. Are these disappearing as well? Do all S-users need to create a SAP universal ID?

Thanks in advance,

Laura

Marian,

SAP Universal ID will be required to sign in to the Community beginning September 5. This will be the standard and only method to login in to the SAP Community. You can read the frequently asked questions here.

Thanks!

Dani

Laura,

S-users will not disappear. SAP universal ID will be able to link your various accounts into one SAP Universal ID. All Community members will need to create an SAP universal ID which can link to multiple S-user accounts. Please read the frequently asked questions here.

Thanks!

Hi Dani,

Is this change applicable for I-users as well? Or SAP employees will keep accessing the community normally without the universal ID?

Thank you.

Luize.

Hi,

until now, I enjoyed Single Sign-On using SAP Passport Certificate (https://me.sap.com/app/sappassport)  for SAP Community. This is not available for P-Users / Universal ID.

So this significantly degrades my login experience for SAP Community. When will I get SAP Passwort for Universal ID?

Am I missing something?

EDIT: I even get a Captcha on each and every Universal ID login. That's off-putting.

BR, Lutz

I've signed up for Universal ID a couple of months ago. As Lutz noted, experience with it is not as good as with the previous options, like SAP Passport.

I understand that Universal ID offers the advantage to manage multiple SIDs/PIDs etc. but I believe for many people it's not really a problem. I'm wondering if in those simpler use cases the process could be simplified.

On SAP Community, my credentials were stored in the browser and typical login experience was just one click. Now Universal ID takes me through 2-3 pages and then randomly decides to use captcha.

Please understand this doesn't look like an improvement from the user perspective.

At least, the previously highly annoying Google reCaptchas have been drop for now (or is it only temporary?).

Most of the time they popped up many times before a successful login, nevertheless I solved the picture riddles correctly before.

OTH, I now see a new kind of login blocker though: Enter some four character letters, before proceeding to enter the password. But that's OK for me now!

Please don't bring back those useless, most of the time unsolvable picture Captchas. I've still a ticket open with this issue, btw: 5088320 / 2023. Should I close it or leave it still open? I reported issues with the reCaptchas in April this year.

Hi Dani,

What's the easiest way to identify that I'm using UID to login to the community?

As you mentioned, beginning September 5, UID is the only way to login to SAP Community, but when I check my colleague who didn't register UID, they still can access the SAP Community with their SSO.

Best Regards,
Owen

Thanks Jelena,

Are you seeing this behavior every time you return to the SAP Community?

Fritz,

What you experienced is the extent of what has been implemented.

Thanks!

I use different browsers for SAP Community (Firefox) and for anything that requires SID (Chrome). Before Universal ID, I usually didn't need any extra clicks since credentials were stored in the browser.

Universal ID now constantly requires at least 3 clicks. For example, today it first asked me for ID (which is always the same), then after you enter ID, password field appears, then it's another page to select one account out of 4 linked ones. It's always the same account for SAP Community, so this experience is not an improvement in such scenario.
