Alv grid edit not released?

I've been working with the ALV grid edit functionality for a while now. I was looking in OSS for a related problem and came across the release independent note 695910. This note says:

"The CL_GUI_ALV_GRID class is released for grids that cannot be edited for customer software developments.

However, all methods that are related to editability of the ALV grid are not released for customer software developments."

Is edit functionality really not released in post 4.6 versions?

I think this is a common black hole in SAP. There are lots of developments (especially FMs) which are not released but widely used by ABAPers. So, it is not recommended but if it fits to your requirements you can use it. However, OSS support and robustness is not guaranteed.

Oh yes, I've used plenty of non-released FMs in the past. I was just surprised that the ALV grid edits were not released given that there is some documentation in the SAP help. If I remember right, the 4.6 help states that it is not supported. But so far, I have not seen that comment in later releases.

Hi Ernest,

Since you have already gne through the note, you must me knowing that the information therein is not really sufficient to pinpoint the cause for the problem you're facing.

Edit functionality is of course available on the ALV Grid, at least from 4.6. If you could mention what actions have caused the problem and how you have been led to this note, then it would be very helpful troubleshooting your problem.
