How do I display group headings and totals for table in Adobe (Livecycle) forms

Hi folks, I am interested if anyone has found a way to display group headings and totals for a table in Adobe forms in the following way.

I've not been able to find anything other than blogs showing how to put the group headings in columns on the same row as the detail line.  i.e, as follows.

This is not great as the additional two columns make the data too wide to fit on a single line nicely.

Wondering if anyone can recommend a blog that shows how to do option 1 in detail.
