Dear All,
Iam very anxious, confused though having 7.7 yrs SAP experience. Please help me with your suggestions. It's very difficult for a woman to continue SAP career. I started my career in 2007 but had many gaps in between my career due to family responsibilities and kids. I worked in India as ABAP er and abroad in 2011 in SD-pricing, Qlikview and ABAP for 3 years. In 2017,I worked as ABAP SD Teamlead for 4 months in India. Since then I took gap to look after kids. I have strong interest in SAP SD and would like to start my new job only as SAP SD consultant not techno functional consultant. Should I start as fresher in SAP SD or 3yrs experienced SAP SD only in pricing. How deeply is it going to impact my salary? The work timings are very odd and this effects running a family. What are the options for especially women to work in SAP regarding timings in India?

Wel, Well, Well,... From ABAP to SD, its quite a journey & having good experience in coding would definitely help in better delivery for Customer as a Functional Consultant. Also there are lot of companies that support & use SAP product now-a-days, which you already might have known & with many new products comes interesting new features & functionality & hence the demand. Work timing is something based on what project you work. If you have India based Local client, then its of course normal daytime for you.

It is quite true that being a lady, it is very difficult to manage a family especially if you are into IT industry where yo need to travel quite frequently.
Coming to your career, I welcome you to start as a SD consultant but you have not mentioned what are the areas you are comfortable though you mentioned you worked in pricing but in that also, it is not clear, how far, you will be in a position to do consulting when it comes to pricing as it is one of the complex scenarios in SD.
Assuming that you can manage the show, as you said, you should be ready to compromise on your salary if at all any firm are ready to absorb you as a SD functional consultant. Wish you Good Luck in your career
