General Availability

SAP BTP ABAP Environment ("Steampunk") is now available on Microsoft Azure. All seven Azure regions supported by SAP BTP are supported by Steampunk as well:

  • Europe (Netherlands)

  • Switzerland (Zurich) - EU access

  • US East (VA)

  • US West (WA)

  • Australia (Sydney)

  • Singapore

  • Japan (Tokyo)

With the going-live on Azure on June 1st, Steampunk has reached an important milestone in the multi-hyperscaler availability for our customers, partners and SAP products using Steampunk.

The Azure enablement was achieved with the strong collaboration of the Steampunk Core teams and the Microsoft Azure co-engineering team.

Available Service Plans

Service plans standard and saas_oem are available in all seven regions. Service plan free for free tier is available in all regions except Switzerland (Zurich). The availability of service plan shared for shared trial is planned in region Singapore by end of August 2023.

How to use Steampunk on Azure

To create a new Steampunk system on Azure, open the SAP BTP Cockpit and create (or use) a subaccount for the respective Microsoft Azure region cf-xx20 or cf-xx21. Follow the steps as explained in the Steampunk documentation.

Our engineering friends at Microsoft offer this series of blog posts about meaningful Integration scenarios with Steampunk.
