I am so happy and grateful to SAP Learning for this Digital Skills Initiative!!!

I am Laxmi Maurya, from India. I come from lower middle class family and my parents worked really hard to educate me. After graduation, by God's grace I was hired by a company through on campus interview and they trained us freshers in a few technologies and as per the project requirement we were allotted to respective teams.
My luck was SAP!!! I was very excited and happy. When I joined my first job and met my team, there were only Males in our team. This is in year 2013 and the Project Manager then denied having me join the team, because "women" were not a fit for a SAP Basis Job! That was unreal to me. Yet I decided not to accept a no, well it was unjust.

So I discussed this issue with my mentor and he was supportive, I insisted for SAP as a career I stayed there. Of all the male trainees for SAP Basis I was the only female and was last one to be chosen for a client and finally became a part of the Basis Team.
Since then I have worked with sincerity and rigor performing my job and have given my best! The same company rewarded me with a "Star" Award later for completion of a Migration and Upgrade Project. My first job has always been very special and I will be forever grateful to all those who showed faith in me.

Today I have completed 9+ years working as an SAP Basis Consultant. What is sad and true is, as a women we have to prove that we are capable of doing the job. This gender bias towards Women in Tech is heart wrenching. But none of it can diminish my desire for success! It is my goal to become SAP Certified, I have a strong will to learn more and more, to become technically strong and pursue my SAP Career in depths. SAP has been my dream company and I follow SAP WomeninTech, SAP Community Pages as it brings joy to see people strive and give their best. As soon as I came to know about this noble initiative by SAP I am here to apply for it as a 'Women" in Technology because I am ready to learn more about SAP, I am very excited and glad to be SAP Certified!!! 🙂  Please do consider my interest in this initiative.

My name is Allison, and I am so excited and grateful for such an amazing opportunity! I have worked in HR in the past, and SAP is something that I have always wanted to learn. I will work diligently and earnestly and make you proud.

My father was only allowed to finish the 3rd grade, being child #3 out of 11. He had to work in the fields, take care of the sheep, and more. We tried to go back for his GED in his 40s, but then my brother and I were born and he wanted to put us first. Knowing this, he will be so proud of me accomplishing such a great feat as SAP.
