Campaign has expired in 2019.

Today SAP announced SAP C/4HANA Foundation, its lightweight technology layer which infuses SAP C/4HANA with agility, openness and extensibility. By the end of the month SAP will onboard 1700+ SAP C/4HANA customers making it even easier for them to design and deliver amazing customer experiences.

SAP C/4HANA Foundation is built natively on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging a set of native services, augmented with SAP Cloud Platform services. Over the next few months SAP will extend its integration with other IaaS providers, as well as its own SAP Cloud Platform.

We are proud of our collaboration with Google Cloud Platform which will bring cloud-native technologies to the doorstep of all our customers”

Thomas Hertz, Head of SAP C/4HANA Technology

In connection with today’s launch, Google will offer 100 SAP C/4HANA customers a starter package with up to $1,000 in Google Cloud Platform credits, designed to give customers a flying start with SAP C/4HANA Foundation. The credits can be used with Google Cloud Platform services like Google Kubernetes Engine cluster, needed for running the SAP C/4HANA extensions. In addition, SAP’s open-source project Kyma, the underlying technology, is now available on the Google Cloud Platform Marketplace

Eligible customers (ie. having one or more SAP C/4HANA cloud solutions) will receive a direct invitation to participate in the campaign and can register till end of June 2019.

Why is it built natively on Google CP and not on HCP?

GCP is the foundation for gmail, google search, youtube and others. If you expect a massive growth of the offered service it might be a good idea to start with a platform that has already prooven to be able to deliver a high workload with a strong price mix. If the load is stabilized you can switch back to your own platform at any time or you stay on a hybrid cloud approach as many others do as well.

Hi Kersten,

thank you for your question. The platform choice for us was derived from the technology choices we made - e.g. Kubernetes. Having said that we leverage a number of SAP Cloud Platform services, including the SAP Cloud Platform Extension Factory.

Kind regards,

Viktor
