In this blog will discuss about the Export and Import Feature of Talent Intelligence Hub (TIH), which was released during second half of 2023. For more comprehensive understanding of Talent Intelligence Hub and its usage across SAP SuccessFactors suite you may please refer the IDP - “Talent Intelligence Hub: Implementation Considerations

We will cover the following items in this blog:

  • Current data structure in TIH
  • Use Cases where Export/Import feature of TIH can be used.
  • Export and Import Feature details in TIH
    • Using SAP API (Business Accelerator) Hub to get the .icd files for Export/Import
    • Integration Center Job setup to Export/Import data from/in TIH
    • Sample Import and Export templates/files
  • How to get Skillsplex Library data in TIH

So, let’s start with understanding first what are the different data elements in Talent Intelligence Hub and what are the different use cases where this Export and Import feature will be useful.

Current data structure in Talent Intelligence Hub (TIH)

There are two main components of TIH where data can be exported/imported:

  1. The TIH (Attributes) Library
  2. The Growth Portfolio

Further TIH (Attributes) Library has following set of data points and I have marked the ones which are today available with Export/Import Feature:

S.No.

TIH (Attributes) Library Entities

Can be used with Export/Import feature?

1

Proficiency Scale

No (should be created manually in TIH)

2

4

Use Cases

There are different scenarios where TIH Export/Import feature is useful:

  • Import Feature
    • Upload the above data in bulk in TIH either to update or create new. E.g.: Upload 100 new Skills in Attribute library, make attributes inactive in bulk, associate skills to multiple employee’s Growth portfolio etc.
    • Integration with 3rd Party systems. E.g.: Get attribute data from another 3rd party system to SF TIH, could be the Skill Library data, could be Skill Profile data of employee to be migrated into Growth Portfolio which was maintained in different system earlier
  • Export Feature
    • Extract the data from TIH to know External Id or wsmid of an attribute for different mappings within SuccessFactors modules. E.g.: For attribute to tag mapping, one needs to know the external Id of both the attribute and tag in TIH OR while mapping the Skill/Competency attribute to Job Roles in Job Profile Builder, wsmid is required for mapping.
    • Extract the data from TIH to send it to other 3rd party systems. E.g.:  Sending Growth Portfolio data to other 3rd party systems for their consumption of Employee’s Skill profile data OR sending Attribute Library data to other 3rd party systems to maintain one common Skill/Competency Library in a customer’s organization across multiple systems.

Export and Import Feature Details

Sample Export Files

 Attribute Export File

ujjalgupta2_21-1714507679165.png

Note: from 2403 release, Attribute Export file has got an extra ‘id’ column which is the ‘wsmid’ of an Attribute. This wsmid is used while mapping an Attribute (Skill/Competency) to Job Role via import.

Growth Portfolio Export File

ujjalgupta2_22-1714507736550.png

Note: Few key pointers for Growth Portfolio Import/Export

  • The Growth Portfolio import-export includes the current proficiency of the employee.
  • The mandatory date format for imports is YYYY-MM-DD
  • Person external Id- External ID of the person. This helps to have only one Growth Portfolio for multiple user assignments in the system.
  • Proficiency Level - Proficiency level of the person for a particular attribute.
  • Status- Allowed values are I and A.  I for Inactive, A for Active. When marked I, then the attribute will not be visible on the portfolio.
  • Preference Value - Allowed values are 0 or 1. 1 implies that the person is passionate or highly interested about the attribute.
  • Proficiency Assigned Date - This is the last modified date for the attribute on the growth portfolio.

How to get SkillsPlex Library data in TIH

SkillsPlex library of skills was available earlier to be downloaded when Skills were part of Job Profile Builder (JPB)

Now, this entire library is available to be imported into TIH. The Import files can be downloaded from https://api.sap.com/package/TalentIntelligenceHubSkillsPlexAttributeImport/overview and then use the Import feature(as explained above) to load this data into TIH.

The documents provided in this package can be used to import SkillsPlex data into Talent Intelligence Hub of SAP SuccessFactors. This package provides data file for SkillsPlex Attributes, Tags, and Attribute to Tag Mapping.

Note: This is useful for customers, who had SkillsPlex earlier enabled at Job Profile Builder and now want to leverage that library in TIH as well.
