With the talent intelligence hub, a new learning experience, Joule, generative AI, a reimagined recruiter experience, more self-service tasks via Microsoft Teams, new core HR quick actions, reaching 50 payroll locales, enhanced time alerts, and more – the 2H 2023 release is packed full of exciting HXM innovations and enhancements!

With the latest release now in preview (as of October 20) and moving into production soon (November 17), we are pleased to highlight the following SAP SuccessFactors Human Experience Management Suite innovations, designed to help you ignite the potential of your workforce and your organization:

Deliver an elevated experience

Joule, AI-powered co-pilot: GA with HR use cases
With the 2H 2023 release, we’re introducing Joule, an AI-powered technology that delivers a copilot experience across SAP cloud applications. On the HR side, users can quickly find information and complete tasks, such as updating their chosen name or a location, and giving or requesting feedback – with many more use cases planned to be added in 2024. Note that Joule will initially be available in English for US and European data centers and will be rolled out to other regions in 2024 and beyond.

Work tech innovations: SAP SuccessFactors + Microsoft Teams
Also with this release, the SAP SuccessFactors app for Microsoft Teams is now available on the app store. Additional self-service tasks, such as clocking in and out, viewing a pay statement, or generating interview questions and completing assessments, can be completed directly from Microsoft Teams, making it easy to complete tasks within the flow of work.

User experience & mobile: Horizon theme, Mobile app activation enhancements
With the completion of the rollout of the Horizon visual theme to all employee-facing pages, this modern user interface now spans across the entire SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite and will be available for every SAP cloud application by the end of 2024.

We’ve also rolled out several enhancements to help simplify the mobile app activation process, including the option to send activation codes via an email address and a new guided experience with contextual help and search suggestions.

Build a future-ready workforce

Talent Intelligence Hub: GA and further Suite integration, Team portfolio, Admin enhancements
With our 2H 2023 release, we’re excited for the talent intelligence hub to officially move to General Availability (GA). It’s been an exciting journey and we appreciate the continued partnership and valuable feedback from our customers who participated in our Early Adopter and Design Advisory Programs.

This release brings an extensive integration of the skills library and growth portfolio data within talent management including SAP SuccessFactors Learning, SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting, SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals, SAP SuccessFactors Succession & Development and SAP SuccessFactors Opportunity Marketplace. Within the growth portfolio, we’re also introducing a team portfolio view that allows managers to view skills and attributes across their direct reports to understand proficiency gaps versus expectations for job roles.

Additionally, we have several admin enhancements including import and export functionality to support the maintenance of the attributes library, text replacement to enable customers to choose their own names for terms, proxy registration, and more granular permissions to make it possible to configure the ability to add or rate skills and attributes separately from each other.

SAP SuccessFactors Opportunity Marketplace: AI-powered ‘Top Picks for You’, Sharing of opportunities, Assignment enhancements
The new AI recommendation category – Top Picks for You – serves up personalized recommendations based on an individual's skills, interests, and behaviors. In addition, the growth portfolio can now be updated with skills from an assignment, allowing individuals to keep skills up to date while participating in experiential opportunities. And with a new ‘share’ option, employees can now easily notify others of assignment opportunities which may be a great fit.

Several assignment enhancements are also available, including concurrent employment, simplified application management, and additional custom fields to allow more flexibility.

SAP SuccessFactors Learning: New, AI-powered integrated learning experience
Our new learning experience is now generally available, delivering a personalized experience by tapping into each person’s aspirations, motivations, skills, and preferences, while staying aligned with organizational goals and priorities.

Additionally, personalized AI-powered recommendations driven by the talent intelligence hub are surfaced based on each learner’s learning history and skills within the growth portfolio.

And with enhanced search and filtering capabilities, such as type-ahead suggestions and key results that populate as the user is typing, learners can quickly locate the most relevant content.

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting: Reimagined applicant management, Generative AI, Career site search
With this release, we’ve improved the recruiter experience by redesigning the applicant management tool – making it easier to search, filter, view, and manage large applicant pools.

We’ve also delivered generative AI capabilities to help simplify recruiter and hiring manager activities, such as creating job descriptions and preparing for interviews. Embedded within the solution, generative AI can be used to identify additional skills, remove bias language, and more to help organizations provide accurate, fair, and compelling content throughout the hiring process.

On the candidate experience front, we’ve enhanced the career site experience with improved search and filtering capabilities. With the option to search based on keyword, location, or job requisition data, candidates can easily explore open jobs and search for roles they’re most interested in.

Enable agile and compliant HR

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central: Quick actions, Workflow delegations, Cross-system workflow
With this release, quick actions from the home page will enable employees to easily complete common HR tasks, such as updating their chosen name and personal pronouns, while managers can initiate a transfer, promotion, location change, and more. We are also embedding these quick actions in the flow of work, such as within Microsoft Teams, SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone, and Joule.

To increase the flexibility when defining workflow delegations, users can now specify delegates for different types of workflow groups, i.e., a manager can auto-delegate time off workflows to a team assistant or promotion approvals can be delegated to an upper-level manager.

In addition, we’re happy to share that the cross-system workflow capability is now generally available, which uses SAP Business Technology Platform to connect data and processes across platforms. This enables organizations who are in the process of migrating to the cloud to adopt SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central for core HR, while maintaining on-premise applications, such as time, payroll, and benefits based on their specific migration timeline.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll: New localization brings total to 50!
With the addition of Greece in the 2H 2023 release, we now offer 50 locales for our payroll solution – more than any other vendor in the market (see 2023 Gartner MQ for cloud HCM suites).

SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking: Timesheet auto-submission, mass approvals, and role-based alerts
We continue to deliver innovation in our time tracking solution, keeping the employee, manager, and admins top of mind. With new capabilities for auto-submission and mass approval of time sheets, organizations can ensure time information is available and processed in advance of a payroll run – helping to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

In addition, role-based timesheet alerts can now be set to notify only the most relevant stakeholders. For example, late arrival or excessive overtime alerts can be sent to only the manager so they can address the situation directly with the employee.

And with more flexibility to valuate time over longer periods, such as by quarter or year, administers can keep a closer watch on labor cost and efficiency levers.

Increase the strategic value and connection of HR

SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone: Integration of home page content, drag-and-drop interface for guided experiences

In this release, we continue our focus on delivering consistent, engaging experiences by further integrating SAP SuccessFactors home page content, such as engagement cards, directly into SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone and SAP Start. These solutions provide a central entry point to SAP cloud solutions, providing easy access to the most critical business applications and processes.

In addition, with a new drag-and-drop interface, customers can now tailor guided experiences to their organizational requirements without the need to write code. This further reduces the reliance on IT and helps customers to quickly create custom processes that span multiple systems.
