SAP Community - Where are you from?

SAP Community keeps growing and growing and I am super excited for this Welcome Corner as it gives the chance for not only new members but everyone to get to know one another and connect with each other.

As my colleague @Katherine_K gives an overall introduction to the Group and what you can expect from it in her blog post, I’d like to take the opportunity to start a discussion about the different locations represented in our global SAP Community. I am interested to read where you are located and where SAP Community is spread around the world.

I am from Germany and currently living in Wiesbaden, which is the capital of one of the sixteen German states located in the west. After years of studies and living in different places, my hometown has caught me again with its charm and the closeness to friends and family has won me over.

But now I am curious, where are you tuning in from?

Good morning - I am joining you from Fairfax, Virginia, just outside Washington DC.  I live just outside the bustling Washington DC beltway.  It's super busy, traffic-wise and people-wise here but it is a beautiful area.  I am very fortunate to live close to 2 large airports, Washington Dulles and Ronald Reagan airport.  I am very fortunate too to walk to work, grocery store, drug store, hair salon - you name it.  Very unexpected in such a busy area.

I am originally from Kansas, just outside Kansas City, Missouri, which is well known for its excellent barbecue.  Kansas has far less traffic than Northern Virginia, so at times I miss it, and I miss my family who still live in Kansas City.

Hi! Living in "HD-town" Heidelberg too! 🙂 It's famous for its old city center and castle and a real tourist attraction. Once finally constructed, it's quarter Bahnstadt is planned to be the world's biggest* housing estate for passive houses. So this town is definitely worth a visit!

I'm tuning in from Galway, a county in the west of Ireland.
I've lived in every province of Ireland at some point, Ulster, Munster, Leinster and for the longest time here in Connacht. My local village has a wonderful community spirit, a bit like here!! I am within walking distance to shops, restaurants, pubs.

I'm British, from Barnsley in South Yorkshire, in England, which means my native accent is quite distinctive. As I spent many years in the South of England, I can also speak with a Home Counties accent.

20 years ago, my family and I moved to (near) Basel in Switzerland. I tend now to speak Home Counties English as well - so that the none-native-English speakers can understand me! We're currently waiting for the Federal government to process our Swiss citizenship application. All other steps are complete and approved, so maybe, just maybe, by then end of this year I'll be Swiss.

Basel and its surroundings are quite cosmopolitan. There's a wide range of nationalities here - 1 in 5 is a foreigner.

I've lived all my life in Baden-Württemberg, the federal state in south-west Germany. I was born in Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance (famous for the Zeppelin manufacturing a long time ago), moved to Marbach am Neckar (where Friedrich Schiller was born) in the early 1970s with my parents and have been living in Fellbach just outside Stuttgart since late 1988 with my husband.

I live in Israel I grew up in the north near the sea moved to the center for the university and nowadays I live in Modiin which is located in the middle between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The city is relatively new and hence constantly evolving and growing constantly expanding what it has to offer culture and services.

The advantage of being in the middle is we are close to the sea on one hand and to the mountains of Jerusalem  on the other but not too close....

I am currently living in Atlanta Georgia USA. I was born in Memphis Tennessee. But have also lived in Poughkeepsie New York, Huntsville Alabama, Rochester Minnesota, and Athens Alabama. My Dad worked for IBM when I was a child. So we moved around a bit. There was a running joke at the time that IBM stood for "I've Been Moved".

I hope to move to Fort Lauderdale Florida when I retire. 😎
